Do we always need a vet referral to treat a patient with acupuncture?

Hi everyone!

My name is Laura, I'm an Italian Vet recently relocated in London. I'm working as a Vet Acupuncturist in a Vet Physiotherapy and Hydrotherapy Centre near London and at the centre I do acupuncture after having received a vet referral from the Vet in charge with the patient.

But I'm starting work also as a freelance doing home treatment. Do I always need a vet referral to do acupuncture? Are people free to contact me for acupuncture without a vet referral?
